Accountant (Accounts Payable) - Property Accounting</a>

Job Description

Virrtue is hiring Accountants to perform daily transactional/financial activities involving posting journal entries, maintaining accounts, receivables and payables. Professionals with at least 2 years of experience in Experience in multi-family, student housing and affordable housing property management and accounting are strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle all aspects of Accounts Payable including invoice processing and vendor set-up

  • Assist the team of Property Accountants with month-end processes and financial packages as needed

  • Provide thorough documentation for the purpose of supporting all financial transactions

  • Prepare and present monthly bank reconciliation reports

  • Prepare audit related requests and other duties as assigned

  • Perform cash reconciliation and verification of accounts regarding cash at hand and cash at bank

  • Ensure security deposits and utility payments are managed in timely manner

  • Perform ad-hoc requests as per business requirements

  • Perform AR receipt creations and cash application

  • Reconcile and rectify all ledger accounts

  • Processing of positive pay and reserve replacement

  • Follow-up all transactions continuously and provide updates to the supervisor

  • Adhere to corporate standards and procedures in all reconciliation activities

  • Track expenses and process expense reports

  • Prepare Journal entries for balance sheet accounts.

  • Track all accruals and prepaid and report to the supervisor

  • Assist in process mapping and documentations

Skills Required

  • Expertise in property accounting and accounting concepts

  • Strong critical reasoning and quantitative skills

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Experience with ERPs such as Yardi, Entrata and Real Page

  • Proficient in MS Office tools like Excel, Power point, Visio

  • Macro and Power BI will be added advantages

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred

  • M.Com or MBA Finance will be added advantage

  • Proficient with Accounting concepts and journal entries

Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in multi-family, student housing, and affordable housing property management and accounting
